A highly attractive Calatrava from IWC. This example is crafted entirely in stainless steel and remains in great, honest condition. I found this one in Paris, and while it may appear to be a simple time-only watch at first glance, the case construction and beautifully finished dial immediately caught my attention.
It is powered by the Cal. 89, one of IWC's most respected movements. Introduced in the mid-1940s, it was developed to meet demanding reliability standards, including those required for watches supplied to the British military. Each movement was thoroughly tested in multiple positions and at different temperatures over a 44-day period to ensure exceptional accuracy and durability.
Condition & Specifications:
The 35mm stainless steel case is in great, unpolished condition. The undersides of the lugs show honest wear. The two-tone dial is in excellent condition, with only subtle spotting visible under magnification. The watch measures 42mm lug-to-lug with an 18mm lug width. The movement is running accurately on the timegrapher, although its service history is unknown. The crown appears to have been replaced during a previous service. There is a scratch on the left part of the case. A 48-hour inspection period is provided, and returns are accepted during that time.
Notes:
A simple yet attractive Calatrava like this is surprisingly hard to find. The case construction helps it wear larger than its dimensions suggest, and the stainless steel case gives it a more versatile, less formal feel. It looks great on almost any leather strap or straight-end bracelet.
