Back at the shop after a successful hunt in Mexico City — and this is one of the gems we brought back. A stunning Omega 2998-62 with a beautifully aged tropical dial and all the character you’d hope for in an early Speedmaster. Clearly worn and loved.
Case and Bracelet:
The Stainless case has been lightly polished before but retains thick bevels. It is fitted with a generic strap and buckle.
Dial & Hands:
The dial shows early tropical tone, the surface has subtle imperfections under magnification but an even color and surface. The hands and hour markers show light radium brown town that matches nicely.
Notes:
The chronograph coupling bridge, where the serial number is engraved, was likely replaced during a past service — a common occurrence when addressing wear or issues such as worn pivots or jewel settings. While the bridge carries a later serial number, the movement architecture is fully consistent with early production, featuring the correct symmetrical clutch found in original 2998-62 examples. All other components, including the dial, hands, bezel, and caseback, remain original to the watch.
Guarantee:
This Speedmaster keeps time and chronograph functions work but there is no previous service history. A timegrapher reading has been attached as a courtesy and a service can be provided upon request.
