An exceptionally attractive Omega Speedmaster ref. 105.002-62, discovered just last week and preserved in remarkable original condition. For a 63-year-old chronograph, the overall state is truly impressive.
An iconic vintage Speedmaster with rich historical significance, examples in this level of preservation are becoming increasingly difficult to source. On the caseback, a touching engraving reads: : “George V. Eidson — From Claire — June 21, 1964.” Research indicates it belonged to Captain George Valentine Eidson, a U.S. Navy officer who served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. More than just a beautifully preserved 105.002-62, this piece represents a personal gift from his first wife Claire. A beautiful reminder of the personal stories these watches carry through time.
Case & bracelet:
The stainless steel case is in great condition and appears to be unpolished, showing thick even lugs, sharp edges. The 7912 bracelet is in great condition showing minimal wear and stretch on the links. It is dated to 1963 and has 24 links.
Dial & hands:
The black matte dial and hands are in amazing condition overall. The lume has aged to a dark orange tone and the hands match perfectly.
Notes:
A fresh-to-market example of this caliber rarely becomes available. Its provenance further enhances its appeal, making it a truly compelling and worthy timepiece.
